In recent years, mathematical skills competition has got a certain development in higher vocational colle- ges. This paper analyzes the present status and problems of the development of mathematical skills competition, and expounds the significance of the competition for educational reform, the construction of a contingent of teachers and scouting for talents. It discusses the methods to the further development of mathematical skills competition, and provides reference and enlightenment to the higher vocational colleges.
