"Confucius" Travelled around the World in Ten Years

十年前,全球首家孔子学院在韩国首尔成立,这所以孔子命名的学院从此开始了世界＂传道授教＂之旅;十年后,全球123个地区共开设了1200多所孔子学院和孔子课堂,走出去的＂孔子＂将中国文化传播到更广阔的世界舞台。

One decade ago,the first Confucius Institute was founded in Seoul,South Korea.Ten years later,more than 1200 institutes or classes have been opened in 123 regions around the globe.On September 27,the whole world is engaged in the celebration of the 10 th anniversary of the establishment of Confucius Institutes and the first celebration of 'Confucius Institutes' Day'.Various activities for the experience of Chinese language and culture were held in nearly 1200 Confucius Institutes and classes on this same day,such as cultural saloons,expert lectures,Chinese language classes,calligraphy-writing,painting,papercutting,Chinese kung fu,Chinese national music,traditional Chinese medicine,and storytelling.Diplomats from more than 40 countries or institutions,students from more than 30Beijing-based universities,and local citizens were attracted to the events.Chinese president Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang offered congratulations in written letters.President Xi Jinping pointed out that Confucius Institutes belong to China and the world as a whole.He called for concerted efforts to push forward human civilization and wholehearted communication between people from different nations,so as to build a better future for all in a joint manner.Premier Li Keqiang said in his congratulatory letter that he hoped the Confucius Institutes could hold on to the cooperative way between China and other countries for management,that education quality could be continually improved,that the fusion between cultures could be strengthened,that more contributions could be made to the diversity of the world's civilizations as well as the harmonious mutual progress for all nations.It is said that the celebration of the 'Confucius Institutes' Day' will be held annually in future on the last Saturday of September.
