A Metaphor Cognition System of Traditional Chinese Medicine Concepts Taking Wood as a Source Domain

中医理论是来自身体经验的理论,采用"近取譬"的隐喻语言解释概念,以其所知谕其所不知。本文借由探讨中医里存在的一个以"木"作为始源域的概念隐喻认知系统,来了解古人如何经由对木的认识,运用木的自然特性、对人类的贡献、出现偏态或死亡为隐喻,阐释所类比的木形人及藏象配属肝胆的生理特性、脏腑功能、病理现象、以及诊断治疗等中医概念,以双收鱼与渔之利。

Traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）theory is an experience-dependent theory.It interprets concepts by making analogy in metaphorical terms,that is,it explains new concepts with the knowledge people have already knew.This paper discussed how the ancients created the metaphors of wood by its natural attributes,drew analogies to introduce wood-shaped persons and the TCMconcepts of physiology,functions,pathology,diagnosis and treatment by a metaphor cognition system taking wood as a source domain.
