Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) has been widely applied in industry for its strong anti-disturbance, high reliability and flexible programming. In order to optimize the design of PLC systems,a PLC simulator based on MCS-51 microcontroller is introduced in this paper,and the design and realization of its hardware and software are given. The software for this simulator includes the monitor routine, the subroutines for communication and interpretive translation of user instructions. The design is simple and clear in structure,and the input/output contacts can be extended,so an effective approach is presented to PLC experimental teaching.
