从1974年开始,邓小平参与到中美关系正常化的工作中来。他积极促成了福特总统访华,福特访华期间,中美之间在建交问题上取得了重大共识。1978年,在中美建交谈判的关键时刻,是邓小平的智慧让谈判取得成功。1979年,邓小平访问美国,巩固了中美关系不断改善的势头,并向世界传递了中国将走向开放的重要信息。
In 1974 Deng became one of Chinese leaders on the foundation of diplomatic relation between PRC and USA. Deng invited PRESIDENT FORD to visit PRC. When FORD was in BELTING, many important consensus were made. In 1978, it was Deng that resolved several difficult issues in the negotiation of the foundation of diplomatic relation between PRC and USA. In 1979 Deng visited USA, promoted good tendency between PRC and USA, and expressed the idea of China being opening to the world.
