摘要
王德威的《被压抑的现代性:晚清小说新论》自出版以来已对中国近现代文学研究产生了深远的影响。但在其以解构式的文本细读重绘文学史地图的"文学考古学"视野背后,也潜藏着特定的陷阱:在最坏的情况下,这一方法论既破坏了文学文本的复杂,也损伤了理论文本的敏锐。但同时,这一现代文学研究领域"文学考古"的典范著作,也提示着该方法论尚未充分呈现的可能性。
In the past decade, Prof. David Der-w ei Wang's Fin-de-siècle Splendor: Repressed Modernities of Late Qing Fiction has w idely influenced the research on C hinese m odern literature. B y close reading under the guidance of deconstructionist critical theories,"archaeology"is claim ed to be substituted for"H istory". T his review discusses one possible defect of such an approach, that is, in its w orst;it w ill dam age the accuracy of both literature and theory. B ut a re-exam ination of the exem plar of this approach w ill show us not only its capacity of overstepping this trap, but also the possibility of a deeper understanding of both literature and history.
