This paper summarizes the factors influencing energy metabolism of birds as well as the research methods. It sums up the research status and progress of energy metabolism of birds in recent years, and compares the nine different methods for measuring energy metabolism of birds. In addition, it analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each research method, and proposes some suggestions to the research on en- ergy metabolism of birds, and aims to provide scientific basis and methods for future research on energy metabolism of birds.
