赫德与近代中国海关国外研究述评

A Review of Foreign between Hard and Modern Chinese Customs

赫德是中外近代史上一位颇具争议的人物,在外交的舞台上,他长袖善舞,不仅颇得清政府的倚重,还在列强之间左右逢源。不可否认他在近代中国海关的建设方面贡献甚大,国外史学界对其给予了颇高的赞赏,也有部分学者对赫德进行一分为二的研究,颇为中肯地对赫德与近代中国海关之间的关系作了客观评价。

Robert Hard is a controversial figure in Chinese and foreign modern history,on the diplomatic stage,he is not only relied on by the Qing government,but also welcomed by the powers. There is no denying his great contributions to the construction of modern Chinese customs.The histo-ry of foreign academic circles gave him a high praise,also there are some scholars study Hart with two sides perspective,they make the objective evaluation of the relationship between Hart and the modern Chinese customs.
