英语名词动用的认知阐释——以《新世纪大学英语综合教程》为例

摘要 从认知语言学的角度看,名词动用的实质是受转喻促动的,隐喻也在其中发挥了重要作用。以《新世纪大学英语综合教程》为例,选取名词动用的实例从隐喻、转喻的角度阐释其深层机制,旨在将认知理论成果应用于大学英语教学,促进名词动用的习得。按以转喻为主和隐喻、转喻共同作用生成的名词动用对实例分类阐释,以转喻为主的名词动用下分八小类以揭示其转喻理据,对隐喻、转喻共同作用生成的名词动用分来源于转喻的隐喻映现、基于名词隐喻义的转喻和基于转喻机制的隐喻延伸三类加以解析。 From the perspective of cognitive linguistics,the verbalized process of nouns are fundamentally prompted by metonymy,and metaphor also plays an important part in it.This paper collects denominal verbs from New Century College English Integrated Course as examples to inter-prete their metaphorical and metonymic motivations,in order to apply the cognitive theoretical results to college English teaching and promote the acquisition of denominal verbs.The collected denominal verbs are classified into two categories:one is the denominal verbs mainly resulted from metonymy, which are further divided into eight types to interprete their metonymic motivation,and the other is resulted from the interaction of metaphor and metonymy,which are further divided into three types— the metaphorical mapping from metonymy,metonymy based on the metaphorical meaning of nouns and the metaphorical extension based on metonymy.
