城中有万泉

Wanquan in the City

沈阳有“万泉河”,还有“万泉公园”.“万泉”这名字好听,不是哪儿都能有的.中国除了沈阳,只有北京和海南岛有“万泉河”.连素有“泉城”之称的济南都不敢称“万泉”.汉时山西运城有个“万泉县”,以城东山谷中有井泉一百余口而得名,后改名万荣县,那井泉一百余口的地方只能称“万泉乡”了,声名当然远没有沈阳“万泉”叫得响.

There is the "Wanquan River" and "Wanquan Park" in Shenyang.It is very difficult now to confirm when the river was formed.It was called the "Xiao Shen Shui"(literally Little River of Shenyang)in the Annals of East Liaoning and Annals of the Whole of Liaoning.Based on that,its formation should be related to the second rechanneling of the Hunhe River in the northern suburbs of Shenyang.The Wanquan River formed on the old course of the Hunhe,with the water of the latter flowing underground to eventually create the spectacle of "springs gushing out from ten thousand holes",attracting worldwide attention.After the founding of the PRC,with the continuous expansion of the city,Wanquan turned into an urban park,and,in 1979,it became the "Shenyang Zoo".However,in September 2000,the zoo was relocated to Qipan Mountain,and the following area its old site was regained the name of "Wanquan Park",undergoing rebuilding in 2008.Now,full of flowers and willows,it has become an ecological park characterized by its springs.
