范炳华教授认为,筋痹和骨痹是膝关节骨性关节炎(KOA)两个重要且密不可分的阶段。"筋痹"即经筋病变,也是KOA发展的开始阶段和必然发展阶段,本病在"筋痹"阶段如果得不到及时有效治疗就会发展至"骨痹"阶段;本病发展到了"骨痹"阶段,"筋痹"仍然存在。"筋痹"贯穿本病的整个变化转归过程,及时、有效治疗经筋病变对本病的康复有着重要意义。提出"症因相关"和"有错必纠"理论,通过调整膝关节内部平衡以达到整体平衡,因去症自消。并首创了"关节杠杆扳法诊疗技术"。
