恩格斯的《在马克思墓前的讲话》是悼词中的一篇经典,汉译被选入中学教材,供读者学习模仿。然而,汉译版瑕瑜不相掩,尚需精琢细磨。从字词、语态、省略、插入成分、定语长句以及文章风格等方面对汉译进行解析,提出改进,洗垢去瑕,使之更臻善译珍品。

Frederick Engels' s Speech at the Grave of Karl Marx is a masterpiece of memorial speeches,whose Chinese version has been selected as a classical passage into middle-school textbooks. The Chinese versions,however,leave much rooms to be desired and this paper is to explore the possible improved rendering by analyzing the existing versions from aspects of diction,voice,ellipsis,parenthesis,modifier,and style.
