摘要
尤金·奥尼尔是美国二十世纪杰出的戏剧家,《天边外》是一部现代悲剧,也是奥尼尔第一部较成熟的多幕剧。作品艺术内涵丰富,抒情性与戏剧性相结合,创造出一种颇具悲剧精神的艺术美感。文章主要从认知语言学的角度,借助认知概念中涉及的范畴、原型、图式、隐喻和转喻等理论,分析作品中的人物塑造、场景布置和主题表现,试图探求《天边外》中蕴藏的美,感知作品中的对立与和谐、神秘化的意境和永恒的生命力量。
Eugene O＇Neill is one of the greatest dramatists in the 20 th century of America. His early play Beyond the Horizon is his first comparatively mature multi-act play,a modern drama with rich artistic connotation,and a unity of lyric and dramatic feature,which acquires a deep sense of tragic spirit and artistic beauty. Through the cognitive theories of category,prototype,schema,metaphor and metonymy,this article mainly analyzes the characters,settings and theme,hoping to explore and perceive the embedded artistic beauty of opposite harmony,mythical implication and the passion of life in Beyond the Horizon.
