Narrative Confliction and Contradictory Narrative in “Sending you a Neem Flower”

《送你一朵苦楝花》小说以书信的方式,"记录"了从农村走向城市的"哥哥"写给离家出走的"妹妹"的一封并未发出的忏悔信。信没有接收者,即意味着叙述者始终没有面向一个明晰的叙述接受者。通过梳理作家的三层叙事矛盾,可以挖掘出隐含在作家叙事矛盾背后的矛盾叙事主题,即:既不承认回归土地的正确性,又不否认土地的包容性;既不承认城市的符号化,又不否认城市生存的合理性。作家所要追寻的生存之道,正是小说看似简单书写背后的深层意味。

＂Sending you a Neem Flower＂is a short story written by Henan writer LI Pei-fu.In the form of letters,the story records a confession letter that was never sent.The letter is written by a＂brother＂moved to the city from the country to a＂sister＂running away from home.The letter has no receiver,which means that the narrator doesn＇t have a clear narrative recipient in mind.In this paper,by analyzing the writer＇s three layers of narrative conflictions,the writer wants to unearth the contradictory narrative theme hidden behind the contradictions in the writer＇s narration,which neither admits the soundness of return to the land,nor denies inclusive of the land;neither admits the symbolization of the city,nor denies the rationality of urban survival.Then the way of survival pursued by the writer is the very deep meaning behind the novel which seems to be written in a simple way.
