Objective: To explore the clinical application of the continous care method to manage insulin injection needle. Methods: The continous care management system, including education during hospitalization, evaluation before discharge, and needle recycle in clinic follow-up, was implemented in this study. A self-designed questionnaire was used to Investigate 150 diabetic patients. Their insulin needle replacement frequency, insulin needle recycle rate and injection site abnormalities were recorded and analyzed. Results: After implementing the new management system, the percent of insulin needle reuse and the incidence of injection site skin abnormalities decreased, while insulin needle recycle rate increased significantly(P0.05). Conclusion: The continous care management system could effectively reduce the needle reuse, increase the needle recycle, prevent the environment pollution, reduce the adverse reactions at the injection site, and improve the treatment effect.
