The British Council and UK's Cultural Diplomacy

英国文化委员会与文化外交决策机构依据权力制衡的原则,既相对独立,又密切配合,在英国文化外交实践中发挥了重要作用。委员会在发掘本国丰厚的文化资源的基础上,通过开展语言教育事业、留学培训服务、英语图书和信息资料输出,以及文化艺术交流普及等举措向海外实施文化辐射,以赢取全世界精英和青年人对英国文化的了解和尊重。

Based on the principle of checks and balances, the British Council is an organization relatively independent of the UK government. In practice, however, it retains close cooperation with the government, playing an important role in UK's diplomacy. Based on the rich cultural resources of the UK, the British Council disseminates UK culture through language education, receiving overseas students, exporting English books and data, and cultural and arts exchanges, broadening the understanding of and deepening the respect of elites and young people throughout the world for the culture of the UK.
