摘要
作为白璧德人文主义的信徒和中国传统文化的守护者,胡先骕反对"科学万能",批判因片面模仿美国教育制度而引起的功利化倾向,将养成节制之道德视为教育的根本目的。他能够在实践中不断修正自己的教育理论,摸索出适合中国的教育模式,如对独立的师范大学由反对到赞成,又如提倡创办不同类型的学校,致力于将国民教育职业化。
As a follower of Owen Babbit' s neo - humanism and guardian of Chinese traditional culture, HU Xiansu opposed the omnipotence of science. He criticized the utilitarian trends in Chinese education, caused by blind imitation of American educa- tional system. He regarded temperance morality cultivation as the fundamental education purpose. Throughout his teaching prac- tice, HU constantly revised his educational theories, exploiting education modes suitable for China. Examples include his transi- tion from disapproval to approval of independent normal education, his proposal of different school types, and his efforts to profes- sionalize national education.
