Terrorist,as a representative work concerning the'9·11'terrorist attack written by the famous American author John Updike, describes the growth of a teenager who is marginalized as a member of the ethnic minority. In this novel, the author shifts his focus from his traditional depiction of the American white middle class to the situation of a new social group—ethnic minority in America, reflecting and revealing the identity crisis which has become a common problem from a fresh perspective. In this essay, the authors give a comprehensive analysis of the mechanism, symptoms and strategies of identity crisis and the relationship between identity crisis and terrorism in Terrorist, hoping to provide a new and constructive way of thinking about solving these problems.
