On Translation of Film Titles based on Domestication and Foreignization

电影片名是一部电影的浓缩和灵魂所在,文化差异是电影片名翻译过程中最常见的一个问题。归化异化翻译理论在处理文化因素方面已得到了当代翻译界的认可。本文通过分析一些电影片名成功的翻译案例,并结合归化异化翻译理论来探讨在电影片名翻译过程中如何灵活运用归化异化翻译理论。

Along with the development of economic globalization and city internationalization, films are tending to be an effective way for cultural foreign publicity. A film title is its condensation and soul, whose importance is self-evident, so a good translation is half done. Although cultural difference is a com-mon problem in the process of film titles′ translation, it is acceptable that the theory of domestication and foreignizaion is more suitable to deal with cultural factor in translation. This article, analyzing some success-ful cases of film titles′ translation, aims to probe into the flexible application of the domestication and for-eignization theory in film titles′ translation.
