The wide use of passive voice is a very important syntactic feature of English for science and technology and its translation is quite flexible. This paper discusses the occasions where passive voice is widely employed, introduces several frequently used translating methods, and points out that various translating methods must be adopted to ensure that the transferred texts suit the Chinese lan- guage＇s expressing habits and are readable in the Chinese context while keeping the accuracy of the transferred information.
