Di Wang Lue Lun （帝王略论） , compiled by Yu Shinan around the first year of the Zhen Guan （贞观） era, chronicled discussions between Li Shimin and Yu Shinan on the merits and demerits of emperors of preceding dynasties, of which Book Two touched upon the appraisal of and comment on fourteen important emperors spanning the Western and Eastern Han dynasties. Comparisons between these emperors were drawn pertaining to their political achievements. So simple and unadorned was the language style and so pertinent were the arguments in it that the historical vision and political wisdom of politicians in the early Tang Dynasty stand vividly revealed on the paper, which deserves earnest thinking from researchers.
