The＂ Wolf Child＂ series stories written by Rudyard Kipling （1865 -1936 ）show the readers a vivid image of the jungles. In these eight stories centered by Mowgli - a human being, the brown bear Baloo plays the role as the ecological envoy, the vindicator of social order and the positive guide in the protagonist＇s growth. In Baloo, Kipling conveys his concern for the ecological crisis and the growth of youngsters. What＇s more,by describing a wonderful and harmonious world in the jungles, Kipling offers his proposal in building a good social order with which the colonists and the Indian people would get well along with each other.
