The Bible has been one of the headstreams of western culture. It made important influence on the development of western literature. The works by George Eliot, a British female writer in the Victorian era are filled with profound impact of Christianity. The characters, scene, structure and theme of her first ful - length novel act in cooperation with The Bible and shows the characteristics of intertestuality. The author who borrowed the stories of The Bible did not simply repeat and replicate but use for reference, absorb and remould based on the realism creation principle. It offers a new research perspective and helps readers to deeply understand the author' s narrative intention: service of religion moral.
