The painted pottery of Majiayao culture occupies important position in Chinese civilization history because of its unique decorative techniques and extremely high artistic value.This paper analyzes the principle of formal art and the composition of the painted pottery of Majiayao culture to show the advanced decorative techniques and the depth of aesthetic consciousness of ancestors.
