汉语新诗英译:理解之殇与译者之任

English Translation of New Chinese Poetry:Interpretive Barriers and Translator's Mission

相对于古典汉诗而言,汉语新诗的话语由明朗、抒情的语言和意境转向艰涩、冷静的独白式话语。新诗艰涩的话语体系不仅给母语读者带来困惑,更为其英译者提出了巨大的挑战。译者应该挣脱"忠实"的枷锁,适当拉近汉语新诗与英语读者之间的距离,以便汉语新诗能更好地在英语世界得以传播。

Modern Chinese poetry has distanced itself from the approachable ideographic discourse of clas‐sical poetry and transformed into an impenetrable self‐referring monologue ,w hich renders great obsta‐cles not only for the native Chinese readership ,but more prominently for a foreign one .T he translator is advised to break free from the shackles of “faithfulness” ,and narrow the gap of understanding to a sensibe distance betw een new Chinese poetry and its English readership ,so as to facilitate its reception in the western world .
