Clarifications on Marxist Philosophy from Three Fundamental Issues

马克思主义哲学有三个根本问题,一是它的内涵:究竟是一种唯物主义还是一种关于人的哲学理论?二是它的性质:究竟是科学还是哲学?三是它的功能:究竟只是一种意识理论还是一种类似生产力那样的实践力量?长期以来,在相关问题上一直争议不断,但尽管问题复杂,仍是可清楚说明的,正如斯芬克斯之谜的谜底是人一样,马克思主义哲学也正是奠基于这个问题之上,而当马克思将斯芬克斯之谜理解为"历史之谜"时,也同时为问题的解决开启了一个重要的方向。

There are three fundamental issues of Marxist philosophy. The first one is its connotation: whether is it materialism or a philosophical theory on human? The second is its nature: whether is it a science or philosophy? The third is its function: whether is it a consciousness theory or a practical power similar to productivity? There have always been a lot of disagreements on related issues over the years. Though the issues are complicated, it is clear that Marxist philosophy is based on these issues, just as the answer to Sphinx riddle is human being. When Marx regarded Sphinx riddle as a historical mystery, he provided an important direction for the solutions to the is-sues.
