汉英“以身喻物”成语的隐喻对比研究——以“头”和“手”为例

A Comparative Study of Chinese and English Metaphorical Idioms Based on Human Body——Cases of Idioms related to Head and Hand

汉英"以身喻物"成语是指以人体部位或器官为喻,借助于人体词汇或人体器官词汇和其他词语搭配构成表达其他概念的成语。对比它们可以发现,二者在生成上具有相似的认知基础,而在结构形式上和喻体与本体的投射过程中的始源域数量上存在差异。这些异同可以分别从认知、语言及文化角度来加以解释。

Chinese and English metaphorical idioms based on human body are those which consist of body vocabulary or organ vocabulary and other words.A comparative study shows that the two are similar in ways of generating and different in respects of forms and the number of source domains in the projection between vehicle and noumenon.The similarity and difference in question can be accounted for in terms of similar human cogni-tion and cross-linguistic and cross-cultural differences.
