The whole plant of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa （ Ait. ） Hassk. is used medicinally and it has the functions of nourishing blood, hemostasis, astringing essence, removing dampness and antidiarrhea. This paper mainly introduces the chemical compositions, pharmacological activity and extraction process and summarizes the characteristics of active ingredients as well as folk medication, proposing the possible development direction of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa （ Air. ） Hassk.
