A Special Type of Causative Structure: Verb-complement Compound Word

动补式复合词是现代汉语词汇系统中一种独特的复合词结构类型。它在形式上表现为一个简单的双音节词,但所表达的语义内容却是一个复杂的致使事件,两个构词语素之间大都具有一种或隐或显的致使性语义关系。根据词内语素自身语义类型的不同,可以将动补式复合词分为致使移动、致使变化以及致使评价等类型。动补式复合词是一种构式,作为其构词成分的"动"和"补"本身都不具有致使性,只有二者结合在一起形成"动+FS"的结构式以后这种致使性意义才得以产生。

Verb-complement compound word is a particular structure type of compound word in modern Chinese lexical system. About the form Verb-complement compound is a simple disyllable word while it reflects a complex causative event about the content. Between the two combining forms of Verb-complement compound, there is the causative semantic relation explicit or implicit. According to the semantic type of the combining form, Verb-complement compounds can be divided into several types such as cause to move, cause to change and cause to judge. Verb-complement compound is a kind of construction,there is no causative meaning in the two combining forms, the causativity just comes from the combination of the verb- and the-complement. Verb-complement compound is a special type of causative structure between the analysis type and the lexical type. On the basis of analysis and research on the semantic relation and the deep semantic structure of the Verb-complement compound, we demonstrate that Verb-complement compound word is a special type of causative structure.
