摘要
现代美国俚语是美式英语词汇的重要组成部分,大量出现在人们的日常口语中,然而作为"里边的言语"、"圈子里的话",俚语显得隐蔽和晦涩,给外语学习者掌握和应用它们造成了很大的障碍。在关联理论视角下,俚语是特殊的词汇,其构词遵循着一般的认知原则——关联性。同时,对于俚语来说,它们不仅具有一般的词汇意义,更重要的是其语用意义的传递。俚语的语用意义是与交际语境共生的。
Modern American slang is an important part of American English vocabulary which is used widely in everyday life. As"inside language", modern American slang often puzzles English learners, even those who do know the English language but not USA history, local customs and practices. From the prospective of the Relevance Theory, slang is a class of special vocabulary, following common rules of communication-relevance. The pragmatic meanings of slang are based on its semantic meanings, and must be fully understood with language users' cognitive context.
