On the Role of Folk Songs in the Marriage Customary Law of South Minorities

民歌在南方少数民族传统婚姻习惯法中具有不可或缺的地位。首先,南方少数民族将歌唱才能作为重要的择偶标准和条件,以此来考量结婚对象的人品与素养;其次,歌唱成为南方少数民族缔结婚姻关系的必经程序,从而形成了"以歌为媒"、"依歌为聘"的独特婚姻习俗;最后,民歌艺术是南方少数民族结婚礼仪中必需的环节,聘金的交付、教育双方婚后的权利义务均由民歌来完成。因此,尊重和发扬这一艺术形式在少数民族婚姻中的地位,对保护少数民族非物质文化遗产具有重要的意义。

Folk songs play an indispensable role in the minorities＇ customary law of the traditional marriage. First,the south minorities regard singing folk talent as an important mate standards and conditions in order to consider the character and accomplishment of marriage object. Second, singing folk becomes a necessary procedure to conclude a marriage relationship between southern ethnic,which formed a unique marriage customs as ＂song for the media＂, ＂song for the appointment ＂. Finally,folk art is an essential part in marriage ceremony of the southern minorities. Delivery of bride price and education of rights and obligations of both parties after married all have been completed by folk. Therefore,respecting and promoting the status of this art form in the minority marriage is of great significance to the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
