通用教学设计的概念源于建筑领域的一个概念"通用设计"。自20世纪80年代中期起,研究者开始把这一理念移植到教育领域中以来,广泛地应用于教学设计、学习和评估等方面,形成了一套完整的基于研究的原则,构成了一个实用性的框架体系。通用教学设计追求多数学生的最大化发展,重塑教育;通过最大限度适应个体差异,考虑学习风格、身体、感知能力的差异,使教育更加包容、更加有效。通用教学设计理念的引入必将对我国课堂教学改革产生巨大的借鉴意义和积极的促进作用。
