The generation of ＂modifier——head＂ compound word in Chinese and related problems

本文以二字组、三字组、四字组为例,详细讨论复合词的生成条件.提出,一个好的复合词的生成并非仅仅受到韵律条件的制约,还要受到句法、语义、语用等因素的影响.对于韵律学界提出的“辅重必双”和“辅名前移”也提出了不同看法：“辅重”成立,“必双”则是一种倾向,并非语音形式上一定是双音节.“辅名前移”从另一个角度讲是相同语法范畴的结构体叠加形成新的复合词的过程.

The paper discusses generative conditions of compound words based on two-- . three-- and four---character groups. It thinks that a well-- formed compound word is decided by syntactic .semantic and pragmatic moti- vations as well as prosodic ones. Contrastive to the view that the supplementa- ry nouns are stressed and two--syllable which should be moved back, the pa- per puts forward another opinion： the supplementary nouns need not be two-- syllable ; their movement is a process in which constructs of the same catego- ries are overlapped to form a new compound word.
