本文从什么是语义、语义和语音的关系以及语义和句法的关系三个方面,以西方语义学发展的四个阶段——古典语义学、历史语义学、结构语义学和当代语义学的不同流派为线索,梳理了西方语言学语义观的发展变化,说明语义学内部分歧众多的根本原因在于语义观的分歧.
This paper discusses the change and development of Western semantics and reviews its main viewpoints and different schools. There are four stages in the history of Western semantics： traditional semantics, historical semantics, structural semantics, and contemporary semantics. Three aspects investigated are： 1 ） what semantics is; 2） the re- lationship between sound and meaning; 3） the relationship between syntax and semantics.
