Marital Impediment and Emotional Emancipation——An Investigation of Night

丁玲在延安时期创作的小说《夜》,集中反映了丁玲对于女性、婚姻和政治关系问题的思考。《夜》中几个女性的婚姻结局都不圆满,三个女人和一个男人的故事似乎昭示了革命不但不能解决婚姻家庭情感和性的欲望,甚或会形成压抑这种趋势的规约性因素和力量。《夜》旨在表现延安革命根据地男性革命者在婚姻家庭情感上存在的理想与现实的烦扰,进而体现丁玲在女性主义和抗日原则、革命叙事与女性叙事之间寻求某种平衡的创作努力。

The novel of Night by Ding ling during the Yan-an period reveals Ding Ling’s reflections upon the relation among female, marriage and politics. The marital endings of the several women in Night are not happy, and the story of three women and one man seems to show that revolution can not sovle the emotional problems of marriage and family and the problem of sex, what’s worse, can even be-come a conventional factor and thrust to block this tendency. This novel is written to reveal a revolutionary’s confusion between ideal and reality exsting in the marriage and family, which further enbodies Ding Ling’s creative efforts to seek a kind of balance between feminism and anti-Japanese principle as well between revolutionary narration and feminist narration.
