摘要
词汇是语言学习的基石,在语言的使用和交流中起到关键性的作用。它也是语言学习三大基本因素之一:语音、词汇和语法。高职学生词汇积累少,英语学习基础薄弱,在记忆单词的过程中又缺乏正确方法的引导。作为词汇的重要特征之一,象似性理论给教师在词汇教学方面提供了一个新的视角。本文从语音、词形、语义、词源四个方面分析了象似性,并探讨了象似性在职业院校英语词汇习得中的运用。
Vocabulary is the"building block"which plays a cru-cial role in linguistic competence and communicative perfor-mance. It is one of the three essential elements: speech sound, vocabulary and grammar. College students don't do very well in words accumulation and they are weak in the basic English skills. They are lack of the accurate methods of instruction in the pro-cess of memorizing the words. As one of the important features of vocabulary, iconicity theory provides a new perspective in vocab-ulary teaching for teachers. This paper analyzes iconicity from the aspects of morphology, phonology, semantics and etymology. It also discusses the application of iconicity to English vocabulary teaching in vocational colleges.
