This paper analyzes an important notion of cohesion theory： grammatical cohesion. Grammatical cohesion falls into four categories： reference, substitution, ellipsis and conjunction. Then the paper probes in to the understanding and usage of each grammatical cohesive device and proposes three translation strategies.
