An Analysis on the Late Qing Dynasty's Literary Translation Strategy from the Perspective of Translation Ethics

清末文学翻译的整体趋势是采取了"归化"式翻译,在这整体"归化"翻译的背后,是翻译伦理道德对译者的时代要求。严复和林纾作为这一时代翻译的领军人物,他们的翻译策略是有共通之处的。文章在翻译伦理的框架内,深入分析翻译活动中的译文受众、翻译中间人和历史时代背景等因素对译者在翻译时产生的影响,指出翻译不是一时一地一人之翻译,而是结合受众、历史背景和社会需求的综合式翻译。

The main strategy in the Late Qing Dynasty＇s literary translation is demonstration. The reason for this whole demon- stration is the call of translation ethics for translators. Yan Fu and Lin Shu were the leading translators during that period and they shared a lot in common in translation strategies. Based on the framework of translation ethics, in - depth analysis are carried out about the target audience, translation activities and historical background and other factors. It points out that translation is not a single activi- ty, but combined with the audience, translation of historical background and social needs.
