Historical Heritage and Cultural Inheritance of the Hulusheng Dance of the Yi People in Yao'an and Dayao

葫芦笙舞是两姚彝族民间古老的舞蹈,与彝族葫芦图腾崇拜有关。葫芦笙有特殊的制作和吹奏方法,曲调有72调,曲调变化多端,且各地的曲调有一定差异。葫芦笙舞是以有节奏的动作为主要表现手段的艺术形式。葫芦笙舞的队形是围成圆圈,手挽手,头、腰、脚的动作协调,舞曲、舞姿、动作豪爽、奔放、自由、活泼,但跳葫芦笙舞很注重场合。近年来葫芦笙舞式微迅速,必须采取有效的措施加以保护、传承。

The hulusheng,or gourd pipes,is a traditional musical instrument of the Yi people and the hulusheng dance is one of their old dances that is related to their gourd totem worship. This instrument,ca-pable of producing up to 72 tones,is made and played in special ways that vary from place to place and the dance to its music is distinguished by rhythmic limp movements. The dancers,hand in hand in a ring,are required to move in concert to produce outgoing and dynamic performance. This dance,however,is only performed for certain occasions. In recent years,unfortunately,the hulusheng dance is sinking into in-creasing oblivion and we hope that measures are taken to preserve it.
