指出陕北民歌与陕北说书都是陕北的主要民间艺术。二者的区别主要表现在起源、表现形式、功能和表达方式方面;在发展的过程中二者既相对独立,又互为借鉴,主要表现在二者对陕北方言的运用、表现手法、相互借鉴及民俗文化的运用等方面。

Folk songs and story telling are two major forms of folk art in northern Shaanxi. In the process of development, they learned and benefited from each other which resulted in some differences as well as connections between them. The former lies in the origin, form, function and way of expression while the latter lies in the use of local dialect, means of expression and the folk customs.
