The Emergence of Police Education for Females in Modern China

中国近代女子警察教育萌芽于20世纪20年代末上海市公安局女检查员之设;1930年,擅开风气之先的浙江省警官学校率先在警官教育中招收女生;后在内政部的再三敦促下,女子警察教育在各地陆续开展起来。女子警察教育的兴起,是中国警察教育在近代化的道路上迈出的重要一步,但仍存在地方各自为政、封建色彩浓厚、生源不足等历史局限。

The police education for females emerged towards the end of the 1920s when female inspectors were appointed in the Shanghai City Police Department. In 1930,playing the part of a forerunner in this respect, Zhejiang Police Officers Academy became the first to admit female cadets in the country. Later on,repeatedly urged by the then interior ministry,police education for females began one after another in different parts of the country. The emergence of police education for females became an important step in the process of modernizing police education in China. However,historical limitations such as acting on the free will of local governments,strong mark of feudalism,and shortage of the source of cadets still existed.
