For the purpose of investigating the temporal and spatial characteristics of remote sensing images, the authors selected imag-es of five periods taken from 1970 to 2010 to interpret the shoreline migrations in Liaohe River delta. The result indicates that in ev-ery time interval of two neighboring images, there emerged a newly accumulated land, whose area was 15.52km^2 from 1970 to 1980, 40.55km^2 from 1980 to 1990, 70.14km^2 from 1990 to 2000, and 17.33km^2 from 2000 to 2010, respectively. The factors responsible for shoreline migrations are analyzed in the aspects of native influence and human activity.
