摘要
本文运用Range软件对简·奥斯汀的6部主题相关影片和随机选取的6部主题不相关影片录音原文进行统计,以考察词汇重现规律以及看电影伴随性习得词汇的可能性。结果显示:1)主题相关影片含有较少类符和词族;2)虽然在4000-14000等级两组影片中出现10次或10次以上低频词的百分比一样,但是在主题相关影片中出现1次的低频词的百分比和主题不相关影片相比低4%。以上结果表明观看主题相关影片比观看主题不相关影片学习词汇的可能性更大。
In this study, the scripts of 12 English movies were analyzed to determine the extent to which vocabulary reoccurs in related and unrelated movies, and the potential for incidental vocabulary learning through watching movies. The results indicate that related movies are likely to contain fewer types and word families than unrelated movies. The findings also indicate that although at the 4000-14000 levels the percentage of low-frequency word families encountered 10 or more times was the same in the two sets of movies, the percentage of word families encountered once was 4% lower in related movies than in unrelated movies, thus there was greater potential for vocabulary learning through watching related movies than unrelated movies.
