Localization Evolution of External Function Surface of Household Appliances in New China

基于历史文献、实物资料考据,阐述建国后家用电器外功能表面设计本土化的演变过程。通过对家用电器外功能表面材质与装饰的研究,分析建国初期家用电器从无到有、从少到多的演变以及外功能表面设计风格从洋为中用、中西结合,到最终形成独具中国审美、具有时代特色的式样的成因。

Based on historical documents and textual research of physical data, this paper expounds the localization evolution process of external function surface design of household appliances after the founding of the PRC. Through a study on external function surface materials and decorations of household appliances, it analyses how household electrical appliances developed from nothing and evolved from less to more during the early years of the new nation. It also discusses the causes for the design style of the external function surface to evolve from adapting foreign things to Chinese needs, to integrating Chinese and western styles, to eventually forming styles characteristic of unique Chinese aesthetics and the times.
