Urbanization is a dynamic process involving complex factors. And water environment is one of the most significant problems in the process of urbanization. This paper firstly introduces the urbaniza- tion development of Nantong City. Based on the analysis of water environment problems in the process of urbanization, the paper also explores the measures of strengthening the regulation of water environment, such as improving the ability of water resources protection and the capability of water environment, en- hancing the defensive ability of water disasters together with the competence of water economics. 13refs.
