Preliminary Studies on the Changes of Social Life in Jiaozuo Area in Modern Time

晚清民国以来,在外来经济冲击下,焦作地区由传统社会向现代社会转变。英国福公司的经济侵略,刺激焦作矿业经济的发展,促进城市建设。焦作地区人口增多,工商业发展,文化事业也逐渐完善,社会生活方面也发生了巨大而显著的变化。市民阶层的物质生活有了较大的改善,精神生活也在潜移默化中发生变化。对近代这一地区社会生活变迁的深入研究,能更好把握焦作"以矿兴市"资源型城市发展的历史。

Since the time of 1900 it is the critical stage for Jiaozuo area＇s changing from traditional society to a modem society under the external economic shocks. The economic invasion of The Pekin Syndicate Ltd stimulates the development of Jiaozuo mining economy and it promotes the city construction.The mining economy led to the development of urban construction. Population increased, industry and commercial development, culture gradually improveing social features also have changed greatly. Town folk＇s material life has greatly improved. At the same time, the spiritual life is also in imperceptible change. To the modem social life changes in this area of research is conducive to make up for this period the inherent shortcomings,a better understanding of Jiaozuo “the rising of city based on the development of mining industry” development of resource-based city history.
