This thesis studies the autobiographical novel Songs of Sirens written by Chinese Malaysian novelist Zhang Guixing from the perspective of Carl Gustav Jung's analytic psychology to focus on the archetypes in the novel, especially "the Shadow" and "Anima". It points out that the novel Songs of Sirens can be read as a psychological drama that deals with conflicts between conscious and subconscious, personal and collective. Three female figures in the novel can be seen as different stages of the archetype Anima during the hero and narrator's psychological development.
