Contribution of Xu Jialin to the Academic Transformation of the Library Science During the Republic of China

在民国时期的图书馆学学人群体中,徐家麟是为近代中国图书馆学学术转型做出了卓越贡献的杰出代表。他的贡献不仅在于将世界最新的图书馆学理论引入中国,而且还充分体现在他积极尝试将之与中国传统图书馆学理论相结合。他所提出的要建立符合中国国情的图书馆学理论体系的构想,以及对图书馆学是一门什么样科学的思考,是站在世界图书馆学理论发展前沿的突出表现,也反映出近代中国图书馆学学术转型逐渐走向成熟。

Xu Jialin was a prominent representative who made the outstanding contribution to the academic transformation of modem Chinese library science among library scholars during the Republic of China. He had not only introduced the latest theory of the library science in the world into China, but also tried to combine it with the traditional theory of Chinese library science actively. His idea of establishing the theory system of the library science which accorded with the condition in China, and his thinking about what kind of science is the library science, was the outstanding performance of standing in the forefront of the theory development of the library science of the world, and reflected that the academic transformation of modern Chinese library science was moving into a mature stage gradually.
