摘要 詹姆斯·迈耶是全球知名的极简主义艺术与批评研究学者,同时也是20世纪60年代美国艺术与当代艺术体制批评的权威专家。本文主要编译自迈耶编选的著作《极简主义》,取其第一、第二两章,因篇幅有限,第二章也并非全译,因而本文只涉及极简主义主要艺术家的早期作品与批评,勉强以兴起为名。迈耶的考察范围要广得多,从运动的发端、经典化,一直到当代的变体,感兴趣的读者可以阅读原文,见James Meyer ed.,Minimalism,Phaidon Press,2010.
