荒漠化是一个动态发展的过程，实质是土地的退化。是自然因素和人类活动的共同作用的结果。“沙漠化”是荒漠化的表现之一。毛乌素沙地则是土地沙漠化导致的必然结果。窝窝庄村特有的地势与文化遗产，加上日益恶化的环境，使之成为我们研究环境治理的特别案例之一。

Desertification is a dynamic process of development, and the essence is land degradation. The reasons for the formation is the result of both natural factors and human activity. The so-caled “desertization” is just one expression of desertification. Mu Us Sandland is the inevitable result caused by land desertification. Wowo Vilage’s unique terrain and cultural heritage, coupled with the deteriorating environment, making it one of the special case of our study for environmental governance.
